   01. Samhita & Siddhanta Department   

   The Sanskrit Samhita & Siddhanta Department is one of the core academic departments of an Ayurvedic college (BAMS). This department plays a foundational role in Ayurvedic education and research. Key Objectives of the course are as under:

        →Sanskrit Proficiency:

             ↠Teach students to read, interpret, and translate Ayurvedic Sanskrit texts.

        →Study of Classical Texts:

             ↠In-depth study of Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, and Ashtanga Hridaya/Sangraha.

        →Philosophical Foundations:

             ↠Introduction to Indian philosophical systems relevant to Ayurveda (e.g., Nyaya, Vaisheshika, Samkhya).

   02. Rachna Sharir With Dissection Hall   

   The Anatomy Department in Ayurveda is known as the "Rachana Sharir" Department. It plays a vital role in bridging the ancient Ayurvedic concepts of human body structure with modern anatomical knowledge. Here's a detailed overview:

        →Understanding Classical Anatomy:

             ↠Teach the structural understanding of the human body based on Ayurvedic texts like Sushruta Samhita, Charaka Samhita, etc.

             ↠Concepts include Srotas (channels), Kosha (body sheaths), Marma (vital points), Dhatus (tissues), Mala (waste products), Garbha Sharir (embryology), etc.

   03. Physiology Department With Lab.   

   In Ayurveda, the Department of Physiology is referred to as "Kriya Sharir".This department is foundational to understanding how the body functions in both health and disease, based on Ayurvedic principles as well as modern physiological science.

        →Core Objectives of the Department: Teach Basic Concepts of Ayurvedic Physiology:

             ↠How the Tridoshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) maintain normal physiology.

             ↠Role of Dhatus (tissues), Malas (waste products), Agni (digestive fire), and Srotas (channels) in body functions.

             ↠Importance of Prakriti (body constitution) and Ojas (immunity/strength).

        →Integrate with Modern Physiology:

   04. Dravyaguna Department With Museum   

   Dravyaguna Shastra is the Ayurvedic science of medicinal substances and their properties, actions, and therapeutic uses. It is the materia medica and pharmacology of Ayurveda. Dravyaguna plays a central role in the understanding and clinical application of Ayurvedic medicine:

        →Identification of Medicinal Plants:

             ↠Describes names (Nighantu), morphology, habitat, and classification.

        →Pharmacodynamics (Karma):

        →Based on the Rasa-Panchaka concept:

             ↠Rasa (taste)

             ↠Guna (qualities like light, heavy, etc.)

             ↠Veerya (potency – hot or cold)

             ↠Vipaka (post-digestive effect)

             ↠Prabhava (specific action beyond logic)

        →Pharmacokinetics:

             ↠Describes how drugs interact with Doshas, Dhatus, and Malas.

   05. Ras Shastra Evam Bhaishajya Kalpna Department   

   The Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana Department is a crucial branch of Ayurveda that focuses on pharmaceutical science, including herbo-mineral formulations, drug processing, and Ayurvedic pharmaceutics.

        →Objectives of the Department:

             ↠Teach Herbo-Mineral Drug Preparation.

             ↠Understanding Ayurvedic dosage forms like Churna (powders), Vati (pills), Bhasma (ash), Parpati, Kharaliya Rasayana, Kupipakwa Rasayana, etc.

        →Impart Knowledge of Shodhana and Marana:

             ↠Purification and processing of metals, minerals, gems, and mercury, making them safe and therapeutically effective.

        →Train in Pharmaceutical Procedures:

             ↠Preparation, preservation, and quality control of Ayurvedic medicines.

             ↠Basic lab skills and use of instruments.

        →Introduce Modern Analytical Methods:

   06. Rog Nidan ( Pathology ) Department   

   The Roga Nidan department in an Ayurvedic college is a key clinical and academic division focused on Ayurvedic diagnostics and pathology.

             ↠Maintaining Health (Swasthasya Swasthya Rakshanam)

             ↠Preventing Disease (Aturasya Vikara Prashamanam)

             ↠Balance of diet (Ahara) and lifestyle (Vihara).

             ↠Daily regimen (Dinacharya).

             ↠Seasonal regimen (Ritucharya).

             ↠Moral and ethical conduct (Sadvritta).

   08. Agada Tantra Evam Vidhi Vaidhyak Department   

   The Agadtantra department in an Ayurvedic college deals with toxicology, forensic medicine, and medical jurisprudence as per Ayurvedic and modern science principles.

             ↠Provides expertise in managing poisoning cases using Ayurvedic and integrated methods.

   10. Panchakarma Department

             ↠Virechana - Purgation (for Pitta disorders)

             ↠Basti - Medicated enemas (for Vata disorders; includes Niruha and Anuvasana)

   11. Shalya Department With Museum   

   The Shalya Tantra department in an Ayurvedic college is one of the major clinical and surgical departments. It deals with Ayurvedic surgery and para-surgical procedures, blending ancient surgical knowledge with modern surgical practices where appropriate.

   Shalya Tantra is the science of surgical techniques and procedures in Ayurveda, originally described by Acharya Sushruta, the "Father of Surgery."



   12. Shalakya Department   

   The Shalakya Tantra department in an Ayurvedic college specializes in the study and treatment of diseases of the head and neck region, specifically:
