About BAMS

BAMS stands for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. It's an undergraduate degree program in the field of Ayurveda, which is a traditional system of medicine native to India. It is not just a medical degree - it's rooted in Ayurveda, a 5,000-year-old holistic healing system that emphasizes Balance of the body, mind, and spirit, Prevention over cure and Individualized treatment based on prakriti (body constitution) by the use of natural herbs, oils, therapies, and lifestyle changes etc.

Duration: 5.5 years (4.5 years academic + 1 year internship)

Eligibility: 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB), with a minimum percentage (varies as per cast reservation in the state); Aspirants must be NEET qualified.

Regulatory Body: National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) New Delhi.

FEE STRUCTURE

Tution Fee Rs. 2,04,600 /- Yearly (Subject to change by the Govt.)
Examination Fee Rs. 25,000 /- (For each Professional, 3 times for all internal exams and external as well)
Registration Fee Rs. 35,000 /- One Time (Includes Uniform, Medical Kit, Digital Library Fee, Student Welfare, Medical Facility and Tour etc.)
Caution Money Rs. 50,000 /- One Time (Refundable)
Hostel Facility (Optional) Rs. 80,000 /- per annum with Mess facility for the session (2025-26)

Having completed BAMS program, one become eligible to work as following:

* As Panchakarma Therapist

* As Higher Studies (MD/MS in Ayurveda or related fields)

* As Wellness and Health Tourism Sector

* As Pharmaceutical Industry (Ayurveda-based)

While Ayurveda is more prevalent in India, there is growing interest in natural and holistic medicine globally. BAMS graduates may find opportunities in :
